Lou Menna needs our help! This wonderful and thoughtful 40 year-old has been on dialysis for over 3 years, due to kidney failure. Lou suffered from a surgical complication which led to him having to endure 22 additional surgeries. Lou coded 3 times and is a walking miracle. He may not be a big man, but he is as tough as any 6’5” 200lb athlete. But no matter how tough he is, 3 years of dialysis is taking its toll on him, physically, emotionally and financially. He has been unable to work for 3 years. He has used up all of his savings and is now barely making ends meet on disability. In spite of frequently feeling weak and tired from illness and the dialysis, he has started a business called “Klocks For Kidneys.” Lou has an amazing artistic ability and makes stunning clocks out of cigar boxes. As always, Lou is putting others before himself. Despite his dire financial situation, he is donating a percentage of his clock sales to the National Kidney Foundation and Gift of Life, which is an organization assisting in organ transplants.

 I can tell you for personal experience, Lou is always looking to make the lives of us around him better. He has done so many things for me and causes that are important in my life. In all practicality, Lou needs donations to be able to afford his daily living expenses and the increasing cost of his medicines. However, if you are not in a position to donate, will you please share Lou’s story so that perhaps he can receive a kidney and come off of dialysis? Unfortunately, Lou has a very rare blood type and for him finding a viable kidney has been arduous task. Many in his situation would be concentrating on him or herself, but Lou has worked and continues to work hard to try to help others who are in need of a kidney.
