Dear Family, Friends, and Kind Strangers,
My name is Paul Bechtold and I am asking for help for my daughter. On December 11th, my daughter Stacy underwent an ACDF-anterior cervical discectomy and fusion-on levels C3-4, C4-5, C5-6, and C6-7, fusing more than half of her cervical spine due to severe compression on her spinal cord. Stacy ended up in the ICU in critical condition, fighting for her life, and had to have multiple surgeries. She was hospitalized for more than 4 weeks. When she was discharged, she was completely broken (in her words) and has been ever since.
The last 8 months have been a complete nightmare for Stacy with extreme, debilitating pain that, to this day, has not been able to be controlled. She has had multiple procedures, injections, and nerve blocks weekly, and she faces more surgery in the near future. To this day, she has hardly any mobility in her neck, she is unable to walk properly, she has trouble swallowing, speech difficulty, extreme weakness, and severe pain in her neck and head. Stacy requires care around the clock and cannot be left alone.
Many of you know Stacy's family's story, but for those of you who do not, in October of 2007, her husband was rushed to the hospital, where they discovered he had suffered a cardiac arrest due to a major heart disorder. On March 29th, 2008, he went into full cardiac arrest in front of Stacy and their 3 sons. To this day, they still suffer from the trauma of that night. Their sons were only 10, 4, and 2 years old at the time. Her husband has been permanently disabled since that night. Not only that, but their 4-year-old son was found to have the same heart disorder as his dad. What followed after that was more medical emergencies than I could even keep track of. I cannot even begin to explain the hell that her family has endured in the years that have followed.
For the last almost 18 years, Stacy has been the breadwinner. With her completely down, they are suffering not only medically, but financially as well. They have done everything they can to stay afloat, but they are suffering significantly. As of right now, things are not looking good for Stacy and she has multiple surgeries ahead of her. She is overwhelmed by everything that is happening to her.
I am here to ask for help for my daughter. She has such a long road ahead of her and needs to focus on her recovery. We have done all we can and now I am asking for your help. Please share her story. Every donation and share means the world to us. Thank you and God bless you all.
