Overcoming discrimination in CSISD

Our son Major was kicked out of PE and cut from the College Station High School basketball team on November 9, 2015 for refusing to cut his dreadlocks.  After we worked diligently to inform College Station Independent School District officials of the error in their ways regarding the hair and appearance policies (held only by the Boys Basketball Head coaches at CSISD), they removed these policies from their basketball programs.  At our urging, they also recalled black players adversely affected by these policies and allowed them an opportunity to play.  While this issue at first may have seemed like it was about hair, it was really about control over the black body.

Given the overall climate of the high school basketball programs in CSISD, and their desire to regulate black bodies, our family had to part ways for fear of retaliation as agitators abolishing discriminatory policies.  Major now attends Allen Academy which has been a safer space, free of the potential retaliatory practices and hostile culture within basketball that can still be found at CSHS.  We would like to thank everyone that has shown love and support for Major during this trying time. However, our struggle continues and that is why we are asking for your help in overcoming discrimination in CSISD.  We are taking our fight to court and ask for your contribution towards this legal battle.

While we are asking for $7,500 for legal fees associated with this fight by the end of March, we will return any  unused portion of the funds to those of you that contribute. We will do our best to provide you with relevant details as we press on with this fight.  Thank you, with love from the Easons!
