It's finally happening!
After months of appointments, dozens of phone calls, and countless bureaucratic hoops, I Finally got approved for my gender affirming surgery on April 29th!
Since I began socially transitioning, I have experienced immense amounts of transphobia. I have been called slurs at work and on the street, and have been denied job opportunities. This has led to extended periods of unemployment, or underemployment, and seriously impacts my mental health. It is likely that I will once again lose my job due to the extensive recovery process.
I am hoping to raise $6,000 to cover the costs of the surgery, and my rent for the time that I will spend recovering. Any additional funds will be used to cover necessities such as transportation to and from appointments, medications, and food. It will also provide me a financial safety net if there are any complications with the surgery, or if I can't find work afterwards. With hundreds of anti-lgbt bills being proposed annually, and hate crimes against queer and trans people on the rise, it is more important than ever that I receive adequate gender affirming care.
Thank you for reading, donating, and sharing!
Update: Hello! I just wanted to say thank you for this outpouring of support. I have never felt so uplifted by my community, and so supported as a trans woman. As someone with a small social media presence, I was terrified that I wouldn't receive any donations. Realistically, I have always been prepared to have this dream ripped away from me under the worst case scenario.
Thank you for your time, your support, and your donations. And thank you to the people who are unable to financially support but continue to share.
