Hi, my name is Dani and this is my boy Evee. My husband and I decided to neuter Evee and our kitty a week ago. We dropped them off at the vet and they told us they’ll be ready to pick up at 4 pm. Just before 4 pm they called us saying that if we could go a few hours later because they wanted to keep Evee under observation and we asked if something was wrong and they said there was nothing to worry about. We got there at 6:30 pm, they gave us kitty saying that he was doing fine, made us pay for everything including medicine for kitty and Evee and when we asked if Evee was okay the nurse only told us that the veterinarian was going to talk to us in a few minutes. We were sent to a room and the veterinarian told us that Evee’s scrotum was swollen and that he wanted to keep him until the next day for observation, he also said that if we wanted to take him home it was fine if we put just ice around the area. We agreed to let Evee spend the night there and when we asked how much that would be he said not to worried about it, which we thought it was weird. The next day we called the vet and they said that they wanted to keep Evee another day for observation. We started to get really worried but we agreed because we trusted this vet. The next day we picked Evee up and he had his scrotum all swollen, it looked like 2 softballs even though they told us they drained them twice in the past 2 days, the veterinarian gave us antibiotics and told us Evee was 50% better and he was only to get better with time. The same night we called him because Evee was bleeding a lot, and he only said it was completely normal and non concerning. After a few days, the bleeding got worse, he started crying a lot, showing pain and even stopped eating. We took him again for examination and the vet said the bleeding was only because Evee was scratching himself with his cone telling us the solution was padding the edges of it, he didn’t even clean the area and said it was normal, that if he didn’t eat anything in the next 2 days to bring him in again. The next day Evee didn’t sleep at all, he cried the whole time, he even started sobbing so we decided to took him to an emergency clinic to get him reassessed. The veterinarian who admitted Evee told us that he was in bad shape, his scrotum was badly infected and was in need of an emergency surgery and if the surgery was not performed it could have costed Evee his life. This is heartbreaking because we trusted the first vet and their judgement just to find out 2 days after he said Evee was fine and nothing to worried about that Evee could’ve died if we didn’t bring him in to another animal hospital. Evee is still at the hospital being treated with a bill of 5000 cad between the surgery and hospitalization that we can’t afford. Any donations to help us pay for our boy’s surgery is greatly appreciated.
