Help family recover from yet another tragedy

If anyone is willing or able to help, our family is in a state of desperation. Our home caught fire on February 16th while my family was asleep. Thankfully everyone made it out relatively safely- aside from a few injuries. During the explosive fire all of our belongings burnt with our home. The cause of the fire is still being investigated. This traumatic event has left my family homeless. Everything is gone.

Our grandfather originally owned this home before his passing three years ago, which he then transferred the deed of the house to his oldest and youngest daughters. The house did not have a mortgage. Eight months ago his youngest daughter and son in law passed away unexpectedly from COVID leaving all of the responsibilities on her eldest sister. Who is caring for many family members. Due to this switch in the deed and the change of ownership the homeowners insurance was dropped leaving the home uninsured. Both of these facts are important to understand the severity of our story. After the youngest daughter passed from COVID, the oxygen company never retrieved the full oxygen tanks from the home, prior to her passing. The fire caused the oxygen tanks to explode, causing an already traumatic situation to become increasingly more traumatic and dangerous. Because the home caught fire uninsured, my family is left grieving, traumatized and now homeless.

The loss of this home is catastrophic. It is a heavy burden for my family to bear after a myriad of traumatic events. We have not been able to recuperate from one loss after another. My family has lost three family members in total to COVID…all within an 8 month span. We have had to fund three funerals that have essentially been back to back. Adding to that the loss of our home and with it all of our precious memories. This has been the worst eight months of our lives. Without the love and support of our family we wouldn’t have made it as far as we have. I would also like to specify that our family (who was asleep at the time of the fire) would not have survived had it not been for another member of our family showing up, seeing the fire and evacuating everyone minutes before the explosion. During that evacuation this family member was thrown across the street from the explosion in his attempt to save everyone. He thankfully walked away with only a few injuries.

I am begging anyone who has the means to help, to please help. Even if you were to simply share our story, it would help. We are a family in need.
