Ashley's Medical Fund
In May of this year, my sister Ashley had thought she pulled a muscle running, when she discovered a lump in her groin area. While waiting nearly 2 months for an available appointment that coincided with her work schedule, the lump had grown to the size of a golf ball.
In the beginning of July, Ashley had been given a diagnosis no healthy 28 year old expects: Cancer. Ashley has been diagnosed with BRAF+ Metastatic Melanoma, stage 3.
After many back to back scans and tests, she began treatment on July 25th.
Ashley has been receiving a newer treatment that was just approved 2 years ago, called Immunotherapy.
Ashley started off treatment strong and was still able to work a couple days a week. As of now, she has been out of work for over a month.
Most recently, Ashley had become very ill and had to be hospitalized due to the treatment causing her body to attack healthy organs - in this instance it had attacked her liver.
There is still a long road ahead including her next set of scans, trying to repair her liver, further treatment, surgery and radiation.
As bills are stacking up and becoming overdue, Ashley's account now near empty. I wanted to set this fund up to help Ashley with a little peace of mind while she continues to fight this battle, without the added stresses of her financial situation.
All Donations will be used towards medical expenses, loss of income, and her travel expenses back and forth to the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center ( 2 hours away ).
Thank you for taking the time to read her story!
