DG3 - Home Runs for Hope 2019

Donation protected
It's year 2 of Home Runs for Hope and we're ready to tally up those home runs!

In honor of David's 33rd birthday, The Gorski Family will continue its commitment to help other victims of homicide and their families, and we are asking for your continued support. Our goal this year is to raise $5,500.

Our donation, in David's memory, will once again be based on the combined home runs hit during the regular season by The Chicago White Sox and The Milwaukee Brewers. This year we will be donating $5 for each home run to the Sheilah A. Doyle Foundation, a Chicago area non-profit organization providing support and assistance to children ages 7-17 who have lost a parent, guardian, or sibling to homicide.

The Center for Victim Research reports each homicide affects 3-10 loved ones. These “co-victims” may experience a long-lasting traumatic grief. When you consider there were 77,103 homicides for the years 2013-2017 one can begin to understand the enormity of individuals suffering from traumatic grief and stress. Children are the most vulnerable. Left untreated this could affect their learning and behavioral development with long lasting implications.

Last year with your generous contributions, we were able to donate over $5,000 to this fine  organization.

Dolores saw, first-hand, your donations being put to good use as she has become a volunteer at the weekend camp. This is the only camp of its kind where children affected by homicide come to participate in a variety of fun outdoor activities as well as group counseling sessions all at no expense to them. Members of our support groups have had their children/grandchildren attend this camp and attest to the good work the Sheilah A. Doyle Foundation is doing.

If you decide to participate in Home Runs for Hope, use this GoFundMe, or mail checks (the old-fashioned way) to:
                                       The Sheilah A. Doyle Foundation.
801 Oak Creek Drive, Lombard, IL 60148

(Please designate your donation in Memory of David Gorski so we can track the amount.)
