Help Veronica fight breast cancer.

On October 5th, Veronica decided to give herself a breast exam. Breast Cancer awareness month was in full swing so she figured, "Why not?" The first area she touched on her left breast had a hard lump. Despite being nervous and scared, she scheduled a mammogram. Unfortunately, the mammogram, ultrasound and biopsy all pointed to breast cancer. As luck would have it, breast cancer runs in the family and Veronica is a carrier of the BRCA2 gene.

After more tests and an additional biopsy, the doctors found a few more potential lumps in her left breast and also saw the cancer had spread to a few lymph nodes in her left underarm. Thankfully CT and bone scans confirmed that it had not gone further than that!

Since then, Veronica has undergone 4 rounds of 1 particular type of chemo and still has 12 more sessions of a different type of chemotherapy to do over the course of the next 3 months.  Veronica will then have a bilateral mastectomy, coupled with reconstruction surgery, and 5 weeks of radiation,  5 days a week.

Because you never think it can happen to you, Veronica did not have the most comprehensive insurance and  it did not cover most of the tests and procedures that she underwent. This year, Veronica has a much more comprehensive insurance. However, there are still very high deductibles that need to be met.  She is very close to meeting the deductibles because of the high cost of chemotherapy, medicines, testing, etc.

Any donations that are made will go to help pay for all the medical bills that have occurred since her diagnosis and will help tremendously in easing the heavy burden of living with cancer.  Veronica and Esteban have applied for several types of financial assistance but unfortunately, have been denied.

Since her ordeal has begun,  Veronica has remained positive and hopeful. I have yet to see Veronica feel self-pity or pessimism. She continues to wear a smile on her face and reach out to those who may need her, despite what she is going through.  Quite a lot of you have asked how you can help out, and Veronica and Esteban feel that this would be the most helpful at this time.

Please know, that any and all donations will be valued and appreciated and will go a long way in showing how much you care for Veronica, Esteban, and Diego.  If you are unable to assist financially, no worries. Continue to pray for Veronica and her family.
