While in the middle of moving, Asher broke free from our backyard gate and managed to walk 1.5 miles to the local middle school. He must have felt confused by everything happening with the move because he’s never run away like this before, and he’s very attached to my son and I. I spent the night/morning searching the entire area for him and calling his name, but learned he’d been hit by a car when someone reached out after seeing his post in one of the Facebook groups.

Asher’s badly hurt, can’t move his back legs, and he’s in severe pain around his lower spine. He still has feeling in his paws which gives us hope, but he urgently needs X-rays, medication, and a full exam to know if recovery is possible. The upfront costs for even the basics are more than I can cover right now.

Asher’s our family and he means the world to us. He’s my son’s best friend and my constant comfort—our world feels safer with him in it. Seeing him like this breaks our hearts, but we’re determined to do whatever it takes to help him recover.
