Garcia Family Relief Fund

Brenda Garcia is a hard-working, loving, single mother of four in Oakland, California. She is a long time Life Academy community member who has sent all four of her children to this school. Her oldest attended UCSC and currently works for Life Academy. Her second oldest child recently graduated from San Francisco State University, and is in the process of pursuing a career in law. Her youngest two are currently students at the school.

In December, her son experienced sudden heart failure, and was resuscitated at a local hospital. He is in stable condition and is being monitored at home. In the first week of 2021, one of her daughters was an unintended victim of gun violence and sustained a spinal injury. She is still hospitalized and will tentatively be returning home at the end of the month, and wheelchair bound. A few days later, another one of her daughters, after experiencing pain, was hospitalized and had to undergo emergency surgery to remove a cyst. She is home and in recovery.

We are thankful that they are all in some form of recovery. But the financial hardship for the Garcia family is real. All of Brenda's children but her oldest live at home. She is a single mother who, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, is currently unemployed and struggling to make ends meet. In less than a month, she has to adapt her apartment to support wheelchair accessibility. This includes renovating the floors, the bathroom, and installing various support mechanisms.

Any financial support would immediately go to making rent payments, renovating their apartment for wheelchair accessibility, and basics such as food, electricity, and household supplies. All donations are appreciated, and no amount is too small.

Brenda García es una madre soltera, trabajadora de cuatro hijos en Oakland, California. Es miembro de la comunidad de Life Academy desde hace mucho tiempo y ha enviado a sus cuatro hijos a esta escuela. La mayor asistió a UCSC y actualmente trabaja para nuestra escuela. Estamos agradecidos de que todos se estén recuperando. Pero las dificultades económicas de la familia García son reales. Todos los hijos de Brenda, excepto la mayor, viven en casa. Ella es una madre soltera que, debido a la pandemia de Covid-19, actualmente está desempleada y batallando financieramente.
