Dear Friends, Family, and Compassionate Supporters,
We are reaching out to share the story of Keonte Williams, a vibrant and ambitious young man whose life took a tragic turn on June 29th, 2024. Keonte, a recent 2022 Engineering graduate from Alabama A&M University and a proud member of the Gamma Phi Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., was on his way home after spending a joyful evening with friends and family. At 9:15 pm, while riding his motorcycle safely, his life changed in an instant.
A truck, attempting an illegal turn, misjudged the distance and failed to ensure the turn was safe. In the blink of an eye, Keonte’s motorcycle collided with the back of the truck, ejecting him and causing his bike to catch fire. The driver, not taking responsibility, left Keonte to endure the consequences of this devastating accident.
Keonte was left with extensive injuries, including multiple fractures in his neck, hand, and shoulder, 5 broken ribs, a broken shoulder socket, a reduced shoulder, glenoid fracture, internal bleeding, numerous abrasions, and brachial plexus nerve injuries in his shoulder. These severe injuries have required multiple surgeries and a prolonged stay in the Surgical/Trauma Intensive Care Unit. As he embarks on a long and arduous road to recovery, Keonte faces intensive physical therapy and medical treatments.
This unexpected and daunting challenge has placed an immense financial and emotional burden on Keonte and his family. Just a week before the accident, Keonte had started a promising new job with great potential for growth in the engineering field. Unfortunately, the job requires extensive mobility, which he is now unable to perform due to his injuries, putting his new position at risk.
During these trying times, we are humbly asking for your support. Donations of any amount will significantly alleviate the financial strain on Keonte’s family, helping cover overwhelming hospital bills, physical therapy and rehabilitation programs, medical treatments, and daily living costs.
