Dezzy & Ian Russian River Disaster Fund
Amid drenching rains from an atmospheric river storm at the Russian River has left small business owner Dezzy and her husband, Santa Rosa Police Officer, Ian Benner’s beautiful first-time home wrecked. Floods & torrential rains fell on February 26, 2019 creating turbulent flowing streams that obliterated many businesses and homes, including the Benner's recently renovated house, cottage and newly landscaped yard in Forestville.
The all-time record for the Russian River is 49.5 feet, in 1986, and the National Weather Service stated this peaked at 46. This devastation truly has caught everyone by surprise. Needless to say, most were not prepared for this disaster, and any amount of money or time donated is appreciated.
Their flood insurance is $8,000 which they do not have. They have flood insurance, but it will not cover all their losses. Insurance will do some for the house itself but not much for the contents and personal belongings. It's time to help these two loving souls in their time of need as they have helped so many others. I hope you will aid generously in this regard. They can rebuild and rebuy but the sentimental items lost in the flood including childhood items and family heirlooms cannot be replaced.
This will not be an easy task and it certainly will be messy, but with these acts of kindness from friends, family and strangers we are helping give this beautiful family a brighter future. We can help get them organized and make valuable contributions in the days to come while they try to get their home and lives back on track.
In light of these recent events including the loss of Marian Heath Benner (Ians Mom), in Early February. They are learning these are the struggles of life and these times create growth, strength, and empathy that will help guide them to overcome hardships; strengthening their family. We must realize the importance of support and the noble cause.
