Dexy’s Emergency Car & Survival Fund – A Second Chance

Hi, my name is Dexy, and I am a trans woman currently facing one of the toughest times of my life. I’m reaching out for help because, after months of struggle, I am at risk of losing my car, which is my lifeline to finding work and reclaiming my stability.

Why I Need Your Help

About seven months ago, I moved to Seattle to escape discrimination in Kentucky and find a safer, more accepting place to live. I left behind everything I knew, hoping for a fresh start, but it hasn’t been easy.

I found a job after moving, but my CPTSD (Complex PTSD) made it difficult to function in a work environment. I applied for medical leave, and instead of giving me an answer, my company kept me in limbo for 3 months, leaving me unsure of my future while they "decided what to do." Finally, they denied my request, leaving me completely drained—physically, emotionally, and financially.

Because of that waiting period, I haven’t been able to work for 4 months total. During this time, I have struggled to stay afloat, unable to keep up with car payments, rent, and even basic expenses.

Now, my car is about to be repossessed. Without it, my ability to find and maintain work becomes nearly impossible. While public transportation exists, the routes would make it incredibly difficult to get to the jobs I’m striving for.

I am in therapy, healing, and taking the steps to rebuild myself, but financial hardship is holding me back. My goal is to work for a nonprofit supporting LGBTQ+ individuals, helping others find housing, resources, and community—because I know firsthand how much that support can mean.
