Dexter's IVDD Recovery Fund

Dexter is my 7 year old miniature dachshund. He was diagnosed in 2018 with Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD). IVDD is a disease that causes the cushioning discs between the vertebrae of his spinal column to harden. Eventually to the point that they can no longer cushion the spinal vertebrae so a forceful jump or bad landing can cause a disc to burst and press on the spinal cord causing extreme pain and/or eventual paralysis.

On June 8th Dexter began showing signs his IVDD was coming back. Because his symptoms were mild the vet believed crate rest and pain management would resolve his symptoms. Unfortunately even with strict crate rest, his condition deteriorated.

On June 18th, Dexter’s hind legs became paralyzed. He was admitted to Canada West Emergency Vet where he has undergone emergency spinal surgery and is now on the road to recovery. The estimated vet bill is between $8,000-10,000.

If you have known me at any point in the last 7 years, you have heard me talk about this tiny sausage with the funniest personality. He is the star of my Instagram and my absolute best friend.

All funds raised during this difficult time will go a long way in helping this little guy’s recovery and is greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much ❤️
