Dexter's latest update:
Because of you
Cody's Back Home with Dexter
Dear friends, family, and generous donors,
We are truly grateful for the overwhelming love, prayers, support, and help you've given us during this difficult time. Thanks to your prayers and kindness, Cody is home again after his second emergency. He had a gastrointestinal infection that caused dehydration and a mild case of pancreatitis. He’s adjusting well, tolerating his new medication, and our prayers have been answered—he’s still with us. It's a relief to see him eating, even in small amounts, and his spirits are gradually improving.
Cody’s joy is unmistakable as he reunites with his lifelong friend, Dexter. Dexter, as many of you know, is bravely dealing with the effects of his third round of chemotherapy. Together, these two incredible companions show us the resilience and heart animals have, and the special bond they share with us and with each other.
Dexter’s ultrasound showed no new cancer cells and no spread of the disease. Proof again of the power of overwhelming prayer, faith, and belief works—prayers do get answered, and should be part of our daily life.
As caretakers of faith, we believe it is our righteous duty to care for our animals by offering them compassion and necessary medical attention. Sometimes, the challenges we face become overwhelming, and it is during those times that we must turn to our community for help. Your financial support, prayers, and encouragement have truly made a difference, not just for Cody and Dexter, but for all of us who believe in the power of prayer.
Thank you for standing with us and believing in the importance of caring for those who cannot speak for themselves. We feel blessed to be surrounded by such a compassionate and supportive community. We will keep you updated as Cody and Dexter continue their healing journeys, and we are forever grateful for your generosity.
Your compassion fuels our progress.
With heartfelt thanks, Dexter and Cody

During a routine exam at our veterinarian clinic, a lump was found in his anal area. Ultrasound or surgery were my only options.
After Dexter had surgery and was diagnosed with cancer, the news about the treatment hit hard.
I had two options: do nothing and make him comfortable, or stop the cancer since it was caught early, and arrange chemotherapy.
After losing my wife to cancer and my granddaughter to a fatal heart attack on her birthday, September 1, my little hero has never left my side. Through every heartbreak, Dexter has been my light, bringing joy and warmth when I needed it most.

Dexter’s first chemotherapy session showed he could tolerate it and gave us hope, but we knew his real fight was ahead. To survive, he needs five more chemo treatments—and the bills are piling up faster than I can keep up. I’m afraid of losing him. Losing Dexter would be another heartbreaking loss.
I urgently need your help. Every donation, no matter the amount, will go directly toward his life-saving treatment. If you're unable to donate, please share Dexter’s campaign. Your kindness and support could mean the world — not just to me, but to everyone who cares for Dexter.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for giving us hope.
Video Update:
His Story:
Dexter was just diagnosed with anal sac cancer. He depends on me to take care of him. He's more than just a dog—he’s my best friend and the heart of my home. My late wife and I drove 250 miles to rescue him when he was just a puppy, giving him his first taste of freedom after a tough start as a prison dog. From the moment he arrived, Dexter has been a constant source of love and comfort and refused to leave her side as she battled cancer. After my wife passed away, he became my constant companion. His gentle spirit, boundless affection, and the way he greets everyone in our neighborhood have made him a beloved companion to many. He’s a long-haired Dachshund with ears ready to take flight, and he’s never met a child he didn’t like or a person he couldn’t make smile. Even people who hate dogs or are afraid of them melt when he insists on kissing or having them pet him. Every night, he sleeps by my side, and every day, he reminds me of the joy and hope he gave my late wife and the unconditional love he’s brought into my heart and our home.
The diagnosis was carcinoma of the apocrine glands of the anal sac. The news was devastating, but there is hope—his cancer was caught early, and with immediate treatment, his chances of recovery are much better. They said he will need chemotherapy and perhaps some radiation. There are new targeted therapies available for dogs, and immunotherapy could extend his lifespan with years of pain-free living. The costs of oncology visits, chemotherapy, and radiation are overwhelming without insurance, and that’s exactly why I’m reaching out for help—to give Dexter the best chance at a full recovery. Every contribution will go directly toward his medical care, helping to cover the treatments he needs to fight this disease.
Dexter has been my bridge to life after losing my wife, filling my heart with companionship and love. Losing him at such an early age is an unbearable thought, and I will do everything humanly possible to help him through this. My late wife found him, and their connection meant everything to her and to me. I want to honor that bond by giving Dexter the care he needs to continue sharing his sweetness and love with everyone he meets. Your support means the world to both of us, and together, we can help Dexter in his fight for life. Any donation is deeply appreciated. Thank you for your consideration.
