Dexter’s Back Surgery
Hi! My name is Brandi and I’m the mom of this loving 5 yr old miniature dachshund, Dexter Alexander. Dexter has always been very spunky! He loves running around, being chased, belly rubs, and unfortunately, jumping. Some may not be aware, but jumping is not good for Dachshunds as their long back and short legs don’t offer much shock absorption. In those cases, dogs will develop IVDD or intervertebral disc disease. This has sadly happened to Dexter and he has some weakness in his back legs due to the pressure on his spinal cord. The surgery will be performed by a neurologist to relieve pressure from the spinal cord so that he can regain strength in his hind legs and suffers no further neurological deficits. Due to this injury being unexpected, I didn’t have insurance for Dexter and am unable to obtain it since he now has a pre-existing condition. Anything you can do to help get my Dexter’s tail wagging again is appreciated!
