Dexter's Healthcare & Medical Fund

This campaign is to cover current and upcoming medical & healthcare costs for Dexter Hay.  On June 2015, Dexter was diagnosed with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis.  On April 2016, he was also diagnosed with Uveitis, which is inflammation in the eyes that can lead to cataracts and loss of vision.

I believe that Dexter is here to serve humanity, healing the world one smile at a time. Let's all come together to help him heal and return the love that he brings to our hearts.

Dexter is an incredibly happy and loving three year old. He spreads laughter and joy everywhere he goes and gives affection unconditionally, flashing that big smile with open arms to everyone that crosses his path.  His parents, Zac and Linh, often hear that people can't wait to see Dexter again. He simply has the ability to make people happy.

Even when he is in pain from the arthritis, he still manages to make sure that his siblings are laughing and that there's a smile on mommy's face.

Dexter is part of an amazing family: Zac and Linh Hay and their three children- Evan 5, Dexter 3, and Daryn 2.

Zac and Linh have gone to great lengths and exhausted all of their resources since Dexter's diagnosis a year ago. Zac is currently serving our country in the Army. He is on a fixed income with the Army and works a second job to make ends meet since the diagnosis, in addition to supporting a family of five. They also sold their car in order to cover the costs for Dexter's first hospital stay at the Children's Hospital in Minnesota .

Over the last year, Dexter has received care from Georgia Regents Medical Center and various doctors, medicines, naturopaths, pediatric rheumatologists and ophtalmalogists- and they have finally found what works for Dexter! His initial pain, swelling, and inflammation in his knee, ankle, and foot has healed. He is now able to be active and run around like any other child. However, the inflammation has returned and is now in both of his eyes.

In order to ensure that the inflammation in his eyes does not lead to cataracts, loss of vision, or spreads to the rest of his body, he has another year of rigorous treatment and care ahead of him.

These funds will be used to cover Dexter's expenses over the next year, which include a five-hour commute to and from the hospital and ophtalmologist 2-3 times a month, co-pays, medicine, and supplements that insurance doesn't cover.

If you've met Dexter, or if this story touches you and you feel compelled to help, you can make a difference by giving towards this iniative or simply by sharing/posting this campaign to your community.  No donation is too small and his family is incredibly grateful for any help they can receive.

Here are some examples of how the funds will be used and how you can make a difference at various donaton rates:

$10-$25: Bottle of supplements that insurance doesn't cover

$40: Commute to the rheumatologist or ophthalmologist

$100: Month of Dr visits co-pays
