Remembering Dexter Windsor – Windsor’s Favourite Cat

I’m Kirsty, Dexter’s extremely lucky human.

For over ten years, Dexter roamed the streets of Windsor like he owned the place (let’s face it — he actually did). Whether he was dropping into shops and flats uninvited, snoozing in sunny doorways, or claiming every comfy chair he could find, Dexter made friends absolutely everywhere he went. He wasn’t just my cat — somehow, he became everyone’s ❤️

Since sharing the news of his passing, I’ve been completely blown away by the kind messages, memories, and stories from people who crossed paths with him. I expected there might be a few — but honestly, the sentiment has been incredible.

What I didn’t expect was how many of you asked the same question:

“Will there be a statue?”

The truth is, I’ve never tried to monetise Dexter or asked for contributions on his behalf. He just lived his life, did his rounds, and quietly became part of the fabric of the town.

But I’d love to create something lasting in his memory — and I need your help to make it happen.

I’m raising funds to commission a life-size outdoor statue of Dexter: a proper tribute to a cat who left a surprisingly big pawprint on this town. I’ve started exploring pricing — and let’s just say, statues aren’t cheap!

I’d also like to have a beautiful urn created for his ashes. Nothing I’ve seen ‘off the shelf’ feels quite right for him. While I plan to keep him with me for now, my hope is to eventually give him a special resting place somewhere in Windsor town centre — it’s what he would have wanted.

Any funds raised beyond the cost of the statue, urn, and memorial space will be donated to charity (to be decided at a later date).
