Dexter Needs Life-Saving Surgery, Please Help

Our Dexter developed a blocked urethra which is a life or death situation. We rushed him to Olean Emergency Vet where they tried to insert a catheter 3 times and failed due to the severity of the blockage. We sunk $1,500 for him to have an exam, bloodwork, scans, fluids and the catheter attempts. His bladder is full of sediment and he’s being transferred to the Emergency Vet in Buffalo, NY. Once at Buffalo, they will attempt a catheter again, if not successful, they are talking surgery that will cost anywhere from $5,000-$10,000.

The only reason we are asking for help is because this is Lincoln’s best friend. We can’t put a price on Dexters life. He is a 2 year old cat that has a lot of life left to him and we are trying to save the heartbreak for our kids. He is a family member and we can’t imagine losing him.

Any amount, little or big is very much appreciated and we’d be forever thankful.

Dexter has been admitted into the Emergency Buffalo Animal Hospital, they have not placed a catheter yet. His potassium is no longer over a 9 and/or off the charts, it is a 5. He is currently stable and heavily sedated. They will keep him for a 3 day minimum. They are very hopeful to get the catheter in place this evening. We can’t thank you all enough for the donations. 

The boys and I are back home and Coco (Dexters bonded cat sister), has been all over Lincoln, offering comfort.

Dexter has had the urethra catheter in for over 36 hours, he is producing urine and passing it. They are still trying to correct his labs, his creatine is still elevated. He spiked a fever this morning, his catheter had a somewhat clogged grit buildup in it and his bladder was firm. He is staying another night, once labs are stable and back to normal, they will start him on an antibiotic to rule out infection/fever. Hoping our boy can come home tomorrow.
