Dexter's Autism and ADHD assessment
Donation protected
I am setting this up on behalf of my son Dexter, who has a long wait ahead of him on the NHS waiting list for his Autism and ADHD assessment. He is fully aware and consenting to this being shared and posted, he is keen to be assessed and to have some answers for himself!
Dexter is a funny and kind boy who loves Doctor Who, but he struggles a lot at school because of his sensory issues and high anxiety needs. We think he likely has some neurodiversity underlying his anxiety, as does he, but as he is about to start secondary school the need to put support in place for him is more pressing.
At the moment he is often unable to participate in typical class activities, and we worry about him dropping further behind at school, but more importantly, his wellbeing at school deteriorating further. He has severe anxiety which impacts him immensely.
Dexter deserves the best possible support and understanding. A timely assessment is crucial for unlocking his potential and helping him thrive, but it's financially out of reach for us at the moment. We know that the earlier children have a diagnosis, the better their outcomes and wellbeing.
We have zero expectations from this GoFundMe, and we know times are tough and a lot of people are in a similar situation. But we thought it was worth trying, and we will also put on some events to raise money too.
