This is Arlo! Born thanksgiving day, he and his brother are the silliest of puppies. They love a good peanut pit
And of course a good nap together- ever since the day we brought them home
At his first vet visit, something wasnt quite right. He had a heart murmur that he couldnt quite grow out of. After many vet visits, lots of poking and prodding, and plenty of treats, we now know that Arlo was born with something known as P.D.A or Patent Ductus Arteriosus (more information below) and requires heart surgery. As you can guess, this will be invasive and require a bit of recovery. But if he receives this surgery, he can live a normal, long life with his family! If he does not receive the surgery, the prognosis is not good.
Please, if you can-donate. Please keep this sweet boy around for many years to come. Please keep him with his brother, and his family.
What is Patent Ductus Arteriosus? In depth information can be found here: https://vcahospitals.com/know-your-pet/patent-ductus-arteriosus-in-dogs
but essentially, an area of his heart that would normally close at birth did not do so. Because of this, the heart is working overtime. The area needs to be closed off to prevent heart failure.
