“Our precious Judd was born November 8 2023 by C-Section due to being breech. When in the hospital he had great vitals and was passing all the necessary tests. On Friday afternoon just as we put him in the car seat to leave we along with two other nurses noticed a weird twitch happening with his right arm and that his breathing seemed off. The nurses took Judd to the Nicu and did a car seat test. When in his car seat in the Nicu his tests came back fine other than a slowed heart rate. The nurses in the Nicu noticed a slight twitch happening with his right arm but it only lasted for a few moments and didn’t seem like a concern. We were then able to go home and when got home we introduced Judd to the dogs and everything seemed to be going well. Soon after that Judd began having rapid movements on the right side of body. His arm, legs, eye and mouth were twitching rapidly for at least 3 minutes. Being concerned we called the hospital back and Judd was admitted to the Nicu at Kearney Regional where it was confirmed that he is having seizures. He had several seizures while in the Nicu at Kearney. They did several tests and it was decided that it would be best for Judd to be flown to Omaha and be admitted to the Children’s Hospital. Judd has since had several tests done to determine what was causing his seizures. We have since found out that Judds seizures are being caused by a stroke he had on the left side of his brain. No one can confirm why this happened but he’s doing well and with the proper medication we are seeing a decrease in the seizure time. The doctors are hopeful and believe that he could be complete fine with no lasting effects as babies brains bounce back easier than an adults. We still have a long ways to go but we appreciate all the thoughts and prayers.” -Devyn Schake
