With an open heart and complete trust in Krishna's infinite mercy, I share my current journey. I am Krsna-palita dd, a dedicated devotee of the Krishna Consciousness movement, facing urgent surgery at Hospital Universitari Vall d'Hebron to treat my obstructive hydrocephalus due to aqueductal stenosis.

Since February 2025, when I suffered a serious accident (hitting my head in a fall that took me to the emergency room), I've been unable to work, enduring intense headaches and intracranial pressure for an entire year. After several MRIs (showing dilated ventricles and near-zero CSF flow), neurologists and a neurosurgeon confirmed I have a malfunction of the brain since birth, and thanks to the fall, I found out I have hydrocefallus. I need immediate surgery to prevent irreversible brain damage.

I am on call to go to surgery at any time, first to have a chip implanted for 3 days to know which type of surgery I will have. Either Endoscopic third ventriculostomy (ETV), which makes a small opening in the third ventricle so the cerebrospinal fluid can bypass a blockage to flow inside of the brain or the Ventricular shunt (most common) which a thin tube is placed in a brain ventricle and tunneled under the skin to the abdomen where the CSF is absorbed.

While surgery at public Hospital Vall d'Hebron is covered, advanced programmable valve requires patient contribution (~€3-5K per medical quotes). Programmable valve if upgraded (SNS may cover basic; pay difference for better adjustability).

I need to raise a minimum of €8,000 for:

✅ Valve/Implant Contribution (if option 2) €3,000

✅ Follow-up visits check ~10-12 weeks post-op (SNS-covered, but transport/Mobility not covered) | if needed ambulance home from hospital; €400–€800 or Uber/taxi to PT/consults (10 trips x €40-€80); possible walker/cane rental (€20/month).

✅ Possible CT/MRI extras (€0-€150 per copay if urgent).

✅ Rehabilitation ~€1,000–€2,500 | Physical therapy (walking/balance, 2-3x/week x 8-12 weeks): €40-80/session private (SNS waitlists long; 80% improve functionally). Occupational/speech therapy if cognitive issues persist.

✅ Family Support Travel ~€2000 | Brazil-Barcelona roundtrip + stay (€1,200)+ lodging/food.

✅ Contingencies € 500–€1,000 | Shunt adjustment under local anesthesia; infection risk (5-10%, extra hospital/revision costs)

✅ Medications with Pharmacy copays ~€ 30–€60 per month | Antibiotics, painkillers, anti-seizure (e.g., Keppra), anti-nausea for 1-3 months.

✅ Living Expenses Buffer €800–€1,200 | No work 1st 2 months. groceries/utilities extra during fatigue (€200-400/month).

Total estimation: €8,000
