Hello, my name is Leslie, proud daughter of Mick and Pat Steury. I started this GoFundMe account to support my Dad who is an amazing and devoted husband and father. He never asks for anything, never takes and is always giving.
Mom passed away on February 13, after fighting so hard to stay here with us. We are so proud of her and will miss her always and will love her forever! It is bittersweet to say, but we are grateful that she is no longer suffering in pain.
Mom and Dad had a rare kind of true love. They married just a month after they met and shared the next 47 wonderful years together.
These last couple years have been difficult for our family, especially for Dad. On October 1st in 2022 Mom was rushed into surgery and then a second surgery and then additional surgeries. This led to her spending the next 6 months in a hospital bed with my Dad by her side everyday. Mom was able to return home, but still required lots of assistance with my Dad being her primary caregiver. Unable to stand for even short periods of time, Mom needed Dad’s help to get in and out of her wheelchair.
Then in January of this year Mom was admitted to the hospital for even more surgeries. Mom became sicker and was transported to another Hospital, but her illness progressed and was then moved to Hospice. Mom’s last words were “I love you.” On February 14th, we said our goodbyes. She is at peace in heaven and we will see her again someday. Mom was caring, fun, awesome and an amazing wife to Dad and Nana to the grandkids! And she will forever be with us!
I am so proud of my dad for how strong he has been through all of this, but that came with his own sacrifice. Dad had to say goodbye to the love of his life and best friend. These last few years have been hard on Dad’s health as he is having trouble getting around and needs surgery on his knees. My hope for meeting this goal is to lift some of life’s heaviness from his shoulders. Your contribution will be used to pay Mom’s medical expenses and help Dad focus on his own current health, life challenges.
Thank you.
