Devon's Weight Loss Camp for Kids

Devon is my funny, smart (always on the honor roll), spunky, tender hearted 12 year old son.  Devon is also morbidly obese.  That term scares the crap out of me but he has had that "obese" diagnosis since he was 9 months old.  Over the years we have had him to many nutritionists, specialists, family doctors, physical therapists and more.  Regardless of this Devon has continued to gain and has now reached 283 lbs.  This is a pivotal number for me.  This was how much I weighed 5 years ago when I had my gastric bypass surgery.I've been obese as well my whole life.  This is a condition that runs very strongly on my side of the family.  School was very rough for me with daily teasing all the way through high school and even into college.  Devon faces that now and it breaks my heart as his mother.  Although he is in a very supportive middle school now, in 2 years he is off to high school.  Devon is finally at the point where he understands how is weight is affecting him and is willing to address it.  Although childhood obesity is a huge problem in our country there are actually very few programs or options for kids.  Although weight loss surgery has been brought up for him he is not elegible for it due to his age.  In my research I found Camp Shane.  I've read many reviews as well as talked to them personally.  They have been around 40+ years and teach fitness(through games and such), nutrition and even address the social-emotional aspects of obesity.  My goal is to send Devon to camp for 4 weeks this summer.  He has watched videos of camp and is very excited to attend with overweight kids just like him!  I'm hoping this will kickstart what will be a healthy start for Devon where we can put in reverse what is happening with his weight.  He has other serious health issues that can not be addressed until he does lose the weight as well.  Please give if you can..anything would be highly appreciated!
