Campaign for Devon-261 Counselor
Donation protected
On March 8th, one of our afterschool counselor, Devon suffered an electrical fire in his grandmother's apartment. Devon's family has lived in that building from the time he was a young child. His mother lives across the hall from his grandmother's apartment, which he also shares with his brother. The fire started in the walls of his brothers room and spread to the kitchen. Thank God his grandmother was not home at the time of the fire. His mother fainted outside and it wasn't until later that she learned of Devon's heroism. Devon and his brother, literally carried their older neighbors down the stairs to safety. Their only concern was to make sure everyone got out safely.
Devon's heart is in the right place and feels he needs to be strong for his family. He has a heart of gold and is always ready to help, not just his family, but neighbors, his co-workers and our afterschool students that are in his care. He is one of the nicest people I know.
The apartment still has the residual smell of smoke but, it's being cleaned and aired out. Devon's family is in need of furnishing for his brothers room (who lost everything!) and they are in need of new kitchen and appliances, including a refrigarator. Devon is very humble and like I said, a caring person to a fault.
I'm asking to please help them get back on their feet. As I am writing this, there are tears in my eyes because I cannot imagine the devastation he and his family went through, and, is still going through. The only silver lining in this dreadful situation is that he did not lose a family member. The hurt will continue but, they are all happy to see another day. Any donation will help and it will trully be appreciated.
I put the cost of items that need replacing and money to help them get back on their feet. Help us give back to a person who does not ask for anything. I thank you in advance for your donations for Devon and his family.
Sincerely,
Sandra Bodden
