Devon's Battle: Faith over Fear

Hello, I am writing this on behalf of my dear friend, Shannon, an amazing mother of four who is having to relive a nightmare and fight a battle she has already won a few times with her oldest son, Devon. Devon was diagnosed at 18 months old with an ependymoma brain tumor on the stem of his brain. He had to undergo open brain surgery followed by many treatments of radiation. Devon went into remission until he was about 15 years old and again had to undergo another open brain surgery that was not so easy and a lot more complicated. He had to have an emergency surgery, and his recovery was much harder. Since then, he has had to have CyberKnife surgery multiple times and has had long-term effects and symptoms from surgery issues with his balance, choking, and vision.

In November, Shannon got the devastating news that Devon now has two tumors on the stem of his brain that have doubled in size, and CyberKnife will no longer work. He will need to have another open brain surgery here in the next two weeks. If you know Shannon, she will not be leaving his side. She will be going with him and have to be in the hospital a minimum of two weeks and taking a month off of work to be the strong woman and mother she is for her son, all while fighting her own battle against breast cancer and undergoing her own treatments that take a lot out of her. But she never lets it show and remains a strong, providing mother and rock for her family with no financial help.

So, I’m asking if we can help take some of the stress off of her as she will be out of work, traveling, paying for Devon and herself, and other kids to be there for his surgery, and then providing for her kids at home while she is gone for Devon’s hospital stay. It would be greatly appreciated; anything helps, and if not, we understand times are rough for a lot of us. Just prayers for Devon, her, and her family will be just as appreciated. Shannon also has
