My name is Emily I am a cousin to the Getzelman/Kaplan clan and I wish I wasn't creating this page. However, cancer is hard, cancer takes everything and leaves you with nothing.
Devonne Getzelman has been a backbone to the community since I have been old enough to remember. She is a funeral home director, a mentor, a wife, mother, sister, grandmother and daughter. She was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer in 2011 at the young age of 54. She has undergone several chemotherapy treatments, yet has always been the rock to her family and community. Every day she puts her family and friends needs above hers. That is just the type of person she is.
It wasn't until August of 2016 that she was no longer able to work due to a hospitalization from the cancer. Since then she has been doing her best to remain healthy while her husband Greg has continued to work full time. Unfortunately, they are at a crossroad where it is more important for Greg to spend time at home with his wife than be at work. He has been using FMLA throughout 2016 to attend doctors appointments and stay at the hospital from sun up to sun down during her recent hospitalizations. While Serenity Hospice is at the house several times a week she still needs day to day care.
Several people have asked what they can do to help. With the approval of the Getzelman/Kaplan crew we are asking for any monitary donation you seek fit. They have several medical bills stacked up, and they will continue to come after Devonne passes. This fund was created to help aid to those bills and allow Greg to stay at home with his wife where he belongs and not have to worry about taking no pay from work.
While the time with Devonne left is short, lets help make an impact that will last on Greg and his family long after she is gone. Thank you from the bottom of everyone's hearts during this extremely rough time in their lives.
