Devon Smith Jr.'s Alaskan Documentary

Hi everyone I'm Devon Smith Jr. This summer I will be working with a non-profit by the name of Brooklyn to Alaska. For 2-3 weeks, I will be in Alaska with this program creating an extensive documentary project through the medium of photo and video. This project aims to document the growth of the guides and participants, the friendship and fellowship of the group, and to capture the natural Alaskan landscape.

As a past participant and lifetime Brooklyn to Alaska member, my experience as a participant on this Alaskan expedition in 2016 transformed my worldview. It was a tough trip but a worthwhile one that helped form a new relationship with facing adversity. This has fueled my passion to help document the journey once again and to help tell the story of the young men who have become Brooklyn to Alaska Leaders. This is a small group of young men who have trained to become certified river guides skilled in first-aid and swiftwater rescue.

This will be a “one-man-band” production, I will practically be a fly on the wall watching and documenting the group throughout the trip.
