Help Devita with her 2nd cancer battle

My dear friend Devita is always full of life, even in the most challenging times of her life.

Devita Supardi Deane is the caring wife of Christopher Deane and dedicated mother of their daughter Aisha Deane (10 years old). This lovely little family is my Sydney family away from my own back home in Indonesia.

Devita is a breast cancer survivor who has been told that after 1.5 years of treatment for stage 3 breast cancer, that it has become metastasised and has spread to her lungs.

She was first diagnosed in 2019 and went through chemotherapy, radiotherapy, a mastectomy and clearance of lymph nodes in her right arm along with a series of complications. This has already been a hard journey for her and her family, one that has not only taken its toll on them physically and emotionally, but also financially.

Devita is an Indonesian Citizen and Chris is a New Zealand Citizen (who has been working here in Sydney, Australia since the early 2000's). She is on a Subclass 461 visa that doesn't give her access to Medicare and her private health insurer doesn't cover the cost of her life saving chemotherapy drugs. The treatment this time is ongoing until the cancer hopefully disappears and could possibly last the rest of her life. From early September 2021, she'll be having chemotherapy every 3 weeks at a cost of over $5,000 per session.

It is devastating for me to learn that my dear friend, a kind hearted, dedicated wife and mother has to face the reality of not being able to afford her treatment. Life in lockdown with just the three of them at home without any friends or family being able to support and comfort them is already very difficult to bear, and along with the financial burden, is adding so much pressure on an already devastated reality for this lovely little family.

I know times are tough for a lot of people out there with the current state of the world due to this pandemic, but we welcome any donation amount. Please share this with whoever you can and hopefully, we can all help Devita be with us, her husband and darling daughter for many years to come. It breaks my heart to even imagine Aisha without her mother being by her side through every milestone of her life, but I believe in the power of human generosity and that is why I decided to start this fundraising program.

Our goal is to raise $100,000 to cover the first year of Devita's treatment and other out of pocket costs.
