Hello, my name is Josh, and I run a small YouTube channel called “Devious Sloth-Man” where I document my experiences as a gig worker in Washington State. I am reaching out today to share my story and ask for your support in taking a crucial step forward.
For nearly two years, my 2008 Chevy Equinox has been my home. It has enabled me to work, delivering food and groceries, which is the best line of work for my physical health due to chronic back, neck issues, among other things. However, the vehicle itself, which I call "The Beast," is now the primary obstacle to my stability.
At 235,000 miles, its condition is critical. The transmission regularly gets stuck in gear, forcing me to pull over and restart the engine multiple times a day. It lacks essentials like Heat and A/C, and has a number of other mechanical failures that make it unsafe and unreliable for the daily driving my job requires. Living and sleeping in the driver's seat of a small, failing SUV has taken a significant toll.
My goal is to transition into a van. This would be more than just a vehicle; it would be a stable foundation. A reliable van would allow me to work without the constant stress of a breakdown, while also providing the space needed to get proper sleep and improve my overall well-being. Despite my best efforts to save, daily living costs and a sudden loss of a key income source Doordash have made this goal unattainable on my own.
Any support you can offer would directly contribute to a safer, more sustainable future and would be immensely appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read my story. Let me know if you need any adjustments or anything else!
