Devin's Berlin Opera-tunity!
Donation protected
I am so pleased to be able to share that I have been accepted into the prestigious Berlin Opera Academy. I will be attending their 4th session in August of this summer! I will perform the supporting roles of Pallade (Pallas Athena) and Famigliari Prima (the Soprano 1 part of a trio) in their production of L'incoronazione di Poppea (The Coronation of Poppea).
This is, as many of you know, a huge dream of mine! I've talked on and off about traveling abroad to pursue this unique career path of mine. Considered to be one of the most thriving countries for professional opera, the state-owned system provides a stability in an artistic profession that may otherwise prove unstable and extremely challenging. Opera is not only a traditionally respected art form in German-speaking countries, but a respected profession. Along with having the opportunity to sing the role in a grand-scale production, I will also be studying and training with world-renowned faculty in the operatic field. Students also have the opportunity to sing for agents currently working in the German Opera system. This will be a huge development for me in both my training and my performance experience, yielding great improvements in my skills, that I will then have the pleasure of sharing with you!
In an effort to maintain my skills and move towards the professional opera world, programs such as this are invaluable. They provide wonderful real-world experience and networking opportunities. Unfortunately, these vital experiences in the field are quite expensive, and I can no longer rely solely upon myself and my wonderful parents to help fund my training. This is an Academy, so I am responsible for paying tuition to attend. The tuition is rather pricy, but it includes housing and travel accommodations while there. I have raised half of what I need so far on my own. Now I turn to you, my amazingly generous friends and family, to help me raise the rest of my tuition.
I am writing to you today to ask your help in exchange for everything I can offer as a singing artist, in hopes that my dreams will spark your generosity.
I will be putting on 2 fundraiser concerts for friends, family, and fans to showcase what it is that I love to do most. This first fundraiser concert will be held May 31st at 8pm, at The Gin Mill bar in downtown Springfield. The second concert will be July 19th at 8pm, at Arlington's in downtown Springfield. I will be sharing a variety of musical styles and I hope everyone is able to attend. It is my greatest pleasure to share music with all of you, and I hope you can help me continue to do so.
