Devin Tavares Barksdale

Devin was born on March 25 2005 to proud parents Shellee and Derrick. He is their second born following D.J. his older brother. Tavares and Terry are Devins two younger brothers. Devin is loved by his family. His brothers will miss him dearly along with aunts, uncles cousins, friends, advocates and teachers.

Devin grew up in Dolton playing football for Dolton Bears. Throughout his years he played basketball for Lincoln school and at the local rec center or courts which lead him to playing basketball for Thornridge High School. His coach recently contacted family letting them know Devins number #33 will be retired.

The recent balloon release showed that Devin is loved far and wide by many. His family is thankful for all who showed up and supported them with all your kind words, thoughts and prayers throughout this time.

The world lost a shining light when Devin was killed early April 22 2023. Devins family did not have a life insurance policy on Devin. This was truly unexpected. Devins family should not have to carry the additional burden of finances surrounding his services and burial while they grieve this sudden tragic loss. Devins family meant so much to him. It is our hope that in his honor and memory we can assist his family in giving him the home going that he deserves. While they come to terms with the senseless and unexplained loss.
