Devin Floyd is fighting for his life. please help

Hi, my name is Tirza Carmichael and I'm fundraising for my nephew Devin Floyd. He was shot through his neck with an assault rifle at close range on November 9th. He was in cardiac arrest when he made it to the hospital in Magee. The staff at Magee General resituated and stabilized him and he was airlifted to UMMC. As you can imagine the damage is extensive. He was in surgery for 5 hours that night to explore the damage inside and stop the bleeding. He is in critical condition heavily sedated and intubated. He's had multiple strokes and they are waiting for the swelling to go down to see the extent of damage.

We've met with the doctors. They said he is NOT brain dead, praise God! His brain does have severe damage due to the fact that he was in cardiac arrest when he arrived at the hospital. How long his heart was not beating is unknown, and CPR was not administered. We don’t know exactly how this happened and probably never will. He will need to be here at UMMC for a while, as he needs the ventilator and round-the-clock care for now.

Devin has been moved to the PICU at UMMC so his mom and brother can stay with him. They are doing everything they can to keep him comfortable. Devin has a very long hard road ahead. Aside from his traumatic injuries from the gunshot he developed pneumonia from aspiration related to the feeding tube and he has extensive brain damage from his lack of oxygen or lack of blood flow. Both lungs have collapsed but at this time his heart and other major organs are functioning. As for the extent of his brain damage, the doctors explained that the brain is very complex and there's just no way of knowing if or to what extent he can recover. It's a very long healing process. Devin has no medical insurance and his mom Felicia Floyd has lost her job at Family Dollar, where she has been a manager for almost a decade. Now the family has no source of income and as you can imagine the expenses are mounting. Any donation will be greatly appreciated. Devin's medical team is in for the long haul and is giving him a fighting chance. Pray that his lungs stay clear and that he doesn't get any blood clots or pressure sores from lying there. Pray that his brain will heal and his tremors will stop and that he will be able to wake up. Pray for his mom, Felicia Floyd, and his twin, Micah Floyd as this is A LOT to process and figure out. We are just SO grateful that we need to figure out "the rest of life" plans rather than "end-of-life" plans. Felicia and Micah are both mentally, physically, and emotionally exhausted so please respect their privacy right now. We will update on here with any information that we get. We're just giving him and God time to see what will happen. He will likely need round-the-clock care for the rest of his life, but with therapy and time, he could exceed our expectations.
