Devin Anthony Kates Treatment and Funeral Fund

It is with a very heavy heart that I write this about my boyfriend, Devin Anthony Kates.
Devin was a charismatic, outgoing, and strong-willed young man. He always had a smile on his face and made friends everywhere he went. His battle with cancer didn’t stop him from having a positive attitude, focusing on the good in his life, and lighting up every room he was in.
When he was first diagnosed with Stage IV Cancer at age 21, he went through multiple rounds of aggressive chemotherapy and countless hours of surgery. In the fall of 2018, the cancer was still present in his body but appeared to have stopped growing.
Unfortunately, by wintertime, Devin’s cancer grew and worsened. While keeping his positive attitude, he underwent rounds of immunotherapy in attempt to stop further progression. However, in May of 2019, his doctors informed him that there was no treatment left to offer. Knowing this, Devin moved back home to spend his last days with his single mother and three younger siblings.
Devin Kates passed away in the arms of his family on June 16, 2019.
Although nothing will ease the pain in our hearts from losing Devin, this GoFundMe will aid in the cost of his funeral that has burdened his mother. It is one less worry for his family in their time of mourning. Devin's mother, Beth Kates, will be the sole beneficiary and all withdrawals will be in her name. Donations will be used to pay off her debt accrued by the funeral and memorial services. These donation will hopefully offset the time Beth was unable to work due to caring for Devin full time.
