Hi – my name is Suzanne and I live in Fort Myers, FL. Hurricane Ian destroyed my family’s home. It’s hard to comprehend the level of destruction that we are witnessing in our neighborhood. In the blink of an eye, all of our furniture, appliances, clothes, computers, and everything that we had spent years putting in place was destroyed when our home flooded. My grandson lives with us full time, and he has lost most of his toys, electronics and clothing. We are grateful that we are only replacing items and that all of us made it out ok. Nonetheless, our sense of peace and safety has been shaken. We feel like we are completely starting over, and that feels unfair and hard and overwhelming. We’re slowly trying to rebuild all of what we have lost and have decided to reach out to the community for support. If you can offer a donation or words of encouragement or support in some other way, it would go a long way towards helping my family and me slowly begin to heal and rebuild all that we have lost.
