Dear Friends, Family, and Supporters,
My name is Maxine Patten-Igiebor, I was born and raised in Westmoreland, Jamaica, and now residing in Brampton, Ontario, Canada.
It is with deep sadness and humility that I write to you in this time of great need.
My heart is broken because the island I love so deeply is facing unimaginable devastation. Hurricane Melissa has torn through Jamaica, leaving behind a trail of destruction — The unprecedented disaster to our beloved Jamaica is heartbreaking. Cuntless lives have been lost, and homes, churches, schools, hospitals, and businesses have been reduced to rubble. Entire communities now stand in ruin, struggling to recover from the unimaginable.
Among those affected are my own family members and close friends. My adopted daughter and two grandchildren, my brother, and both of my sisters have lost their homes. Some are now living in shelters, others with friends or neighbors. All trying to stay strong despite the pain and uncertainty that surrounds them, uncertain of what tomorrow will bring.
In response to this tragedy, I am doing all I can to send barrels of aid and relief supplies — including clothing, non-perishable food items, solar fans, flashlights, bedding, mosquito repellents and nets, bottled water, first aid kits, medications, and small generators. I am also seeking financial assistance to help purchase building materials so that families can begin to rebuild their homes and lives.
This is not an easy appeal for me to make, but the need is overwhelming, and time is of the essence. Your donation no matter how small will have a profound impact on those who are suffering. Your generosity can help bring light to the darkness and restore hope to those who have lost everything.
From the depths of my heart, I thank you for your compassion, your kindness, and your prayers. May God richly bless you for extending a hand in this most difficult time.
With gratitude and hope,
Maxine Patten-Igiebor
Brampton, Ontario,
