Devastating Fire in Vauxhall Street Plymouth

Hi, my name is Craig & I am the Lettings Manager for Cross Keys Estates in Stoke Village, Plymouth. I am trying to help a lovely family of 5, who lost everything in the devastating flat fire on Thursday 28th May 2026. The fire was of no fault of their own and all certification was in place. The family consist of Mum (Shade),Dad (Mo), their ten year old son and 2 daughters aged 8 & 4. These people are our tenants and all of the Staff and Directors at CK feel that this is something that needs to be done to help and assist some genuinely lovely people.

Plymouth City Council Emergency Housing Department and Cross Keys Estates managed to find them a temporary home for 6 weeks yesterday and PCC also delivered basic furniture to the property within an hour so they could move in. I have to say, PCC have their critics but they were nothing short of FANTASTIC. Plymouth Community Homes helped enormously on the night to give the family a place to sleep too.

This page is really to, hopefully, get together £1500 - £2000 so that the family can purchase items for the family such as clothes, kitchen utensils, bedding and so on. It will not be used for anything over and above basic things

On top of the fire, their ten year old son has been in Derriford for a couple of months now and this has been a stressful time in itself but the fire has taken them to absolute breaking point. I met Shade yesterday and she was sad, bewildered and afraid for what is to come. I do believe their son is on the mend.

I sincerely hope lots of people just give a little and we reach this amount soon so the money can be handed over to them. If it exceeds the target then a decision will have to be made as to whether the family have it or it is donated to a Plymouth Charity involving homelessness or victims of a fire. If I am honest, I’ve not done this before so am a bit green but let’s hope we can help some fellow Plymothians in their hour of need.

The photos have been taken from the internet so thank you to those that took them. If you want them taken down please do say so
