This GoFundMe is in support of our dear sister of the Heal program @JMACforFamilies. She is a 40-year-old Black mother of five whose life changed in an instant. A fire tore through her home, leaving her and her children with nothing but the clothes on their backs. In a matter of moments, everything they owned—their belongings, their memories, their sense of stability—was gone. Though the loss is overwhelming, she remains profoundly grateful that her children survived. Their safety is her only comfort in the midst of unimaginable devastation.

What makes her situation even more heartbreaking is that she has spent years fighting for others facing crises just like this. She is a passionate advocate for families impacted by family policing, a supporter and mentor for adoptive children and youth who have aged out of foster care, and a dedicated mental health peer expert who has helped countless people navigate trauma, uncertainty, and hardship.

Now, after a lifetime of serving her community, she is the one in need. She and her children are starting over from nothing—working to secure clothing, food, transportation, and safe temporary housing while they rebuild their lives.

Any support offered—whether financial help, resources, or simply sharing her story—will go directly toward restoring stability and hope for her family. Every act of kindness reminds her children that they are not alone, and that their community cares.
