The Mushroom Hut LLC started about 5 years ago as a small business in North Berwick, ME operating out of 2 small sheds to provide fresh mushrooms to the community through local farmers markets, stores, and restaurants. The business is owned, operated and tended to by me, Nicholas Doucette. The business slowly grew over the course of those 5 years into as much as I could handle between 6 multi-purpose structures.

Unfortunately, in the early hours of March 29, 2026, 4 of those structures were lost to a fire originating from an unknown cause. The two buildings that remain are an unfinished fruiting chamber and incubation space. I am deeply saddened that I can’t produce in the interim and the focus of my main growing season has shifted to rebuilding. There is a long road ahead for me, and I have decided to turn to the community I love for help with a portion of the cost to replace one of the essential structures as I discovered that the replacement of the structures themselves would not be covered under my insurance. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated and I am looking forward to seeing all my mushroom lovers this summer!
