Devastated by Bobcat Fire, Bee & Honey Ranch Fund
The Bobcat Fire sent a firestorm through Valyermo on Friday, September 18th. Several of the residents who have been there for decades had significant property damage and one long-time resident suffered burns to his head, neck and hands.
Our goal is to help the beekeepers who operate ranches in Valyermo. Ross Honey Co. lost bees, beehives, their entire honey crop and many structures. The Ross family has been in business for four generations after homesteading in Valyermo over 100 years ago. Even though they prepared for days by clearing dried brush, watering, and making fire breaks, the fire windstorm came through like a freight train. With the widespread magnitude of the fire, responders were unable to help this area of Valyermo in time. Another honey ranch in that area lost many beehives, and both ranches will have significant losses for years. We all know the importance of bees in our day-to-day lives and how they’re essential to the foods we eat.
Please help the Valyermo honey ranches so they can focus again on beekeeping. Every little bit counts. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
