Detective Richard Link #951 Fund

Donation protected

My name is Eric Evans, I am a Detective with the Atlantic City Police Department. I was a friend/co-worker of Richard Link. I am setting up this fundraiser for Detective Richard Link’s family to help with upcoming funeral costs and any other expenses his family may need in dealing with this sudden tragedy.

Richard Link had an unforgettable bond with his family. Someone you could always count on to be there for you, regardless of the request or task. Truly a one of a kind. Link wanted to provide only the best to his two twin nephews.  Everyone knows how much Rich cherished every moment with them.

Link was the most ambitious, dedicated, and humble cop that I’ve ever seen. That dude wouldn’t take a break from any case, regardless of how petty it was. He would work it from beginning to end without complaining once. There was never an off switch for Link.

In 2016 when you got hired as a Class 2, you always told everyone how you wanted to be the most proactive cop ACPD ever seen. A group of us that worked along side you on the boardwalk and pacific avenue made it our goal to teach you the right way. It is very rare to come by someone with such ambition to learn the job like you wanted to.

A short time later when you became Full-Time you continued this dedication you had, but began taking it to the next level. You were recognized for your hard work, attention to detail, and remembering faces throughout the city, especially when the protesting and riots in Atlantic City happened. I feel The Riot Investigation Team was formed specifically for you. You sat and watched hours on hours of surveillance footage identifying multiple people, never complaining once. Anytime I walked by your desk in the VICE office, I never saw you taking a break. I’ve never met anyone that enjoys watching hours of footage like you.

After the Riot Investigation was done, your Supervisors from Intelligence kept you in the unit because they saw your non stop drive trying to bring justice to people who destroyed Atlantic City. A city that you always gave 120% to.

Ever since you moved in with Chris you fit right into our friend group. We attempted to bring you out with us hundreds of times, but when we did get you to come out, we made sure to make the best of it. You only drank Guinness, I have no idea how one could stomach that. Whenever anyone went out with you there would be a non stop flow of pickle back shots. Before we even finished the shot Infront of us, you could always count on Link already ordering another round. Going on vacation with you was an awesome experience and something I’ll keep with me forever.

Just saw you at work Friday up in the office and hit me with your famous line “it’s great to see you, how are you doing.” You could always count on Link brining a smile to your face. The most upbeat guy, and always happy to be at work.

The city, the victims you went above and beyond for, and everyone that worked with you will truly miss you.

The only people that know what you’ve been exposed to at work is your co-workers, very few other people understand what the job takes. We should always be checking on each other. You truly never know what someone is going through.

“Don’t judge a man until you walk a mile in his shoes.” Forever will be remembered. RIP ACPD Detective Richard Link #951. Love and miss you brother.
