Let's Kick Leukemia Butt with Destney

Hello, I'm fundraising for my Great niece Destney Smoke who was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). Destney is a Grade 12 Honour student at Huntsville High School she Is (was) looking forward to going to College to enter into the Medical Profession in September. She is more worried about finishing her schooling than her being sick.

Destney went to her family doctor's on Wednesday January 4 2023 because she was not feeling very well since just before Christmas. Mom and her were thinking it was the flu bug, or something that had been going around, along those lines, at that time it was around 11:45 AM. She was sent up to Huntsville Hospital for further testing, Destney and her Mom were told she needed to be airlifted to Sick Kids in Toronto however due to weather conditions, Destney had to transported by ground ambulance, and by 7:30 pm that night she was admitted to Sickkids. we drove Mom down right behind Destney. By 1:30 am Destney was diagnosed with AML. The next day Destney & Mom met with many Doctors and was told she has a long road to recovery, and that she will be in Sickkids for a minimum of 6 months. She has had a Bone Marrow Exam & Lumbar Puncture on friday they did get good news that it hasn’t reached her spin so far. As of Monday Destney has started full forced Chemotherapy every day for the first stage of her many treatments. We are fund raising to help with the cost for the family to travel back and forth, as they live 2 1/2 hours north of Toronto with 2 other children at home who are worried and miss their big sister, donations would help with accommodation for her family to go visit Destney in the hospital, also meals for mom as she will be staying with Destney for most of the time at the hospital, or for anything that Destney may need. 6 months is a LONG ROAD to RECOVERY. Any donations will help with the extra cost, that her family will have through this journey with Destney. All donations will greatly be appreciated big or small.
