Destiny is a very loving, caring, kind hearted young woman who calls everyone sweetheart, whether she knows you or not. She has a heart of gold and a contagious smile that hardly ever leaves her face. She is a devoted mother of 3 young children, ages 2, 3 and 6. Her babies are her world and she raises them with the help of her mother, Betty. Family means everything to Destiny, including the friends whom she has met along the way and "adopted" as her family. She is strong with her faith and loved by so many.
On Friday, March 31st at around 8:15pm Destiny was leaving her job as a server at Brookdale Senior Living and heading home to be with her babies. It was dark and pouring rain. As she was about to cross the street to get to the bus stop, she was struck by a car driven by a 90 year old man who left the scene and left Destiny alone on the side of the road. Luckily two other drivers had noticed her laying there, unresponsive in the rain and stopped their vehicles in a way to block traffic in order to protect her. They turned on their hazard flashers and stayed with her until emergency vehicles arrived to the scene.
She has a long road to recovery. We're not sure if the driver had car insurance and if so, how much they will pay towards Destiny's medical bills and how much hers will pay. We are anticipating higher medical and recovery costs than what will be covered and are asking for help from family, friends and the community. We will use this money towards any medical bills she may be responsible for, recovery and help with her children as she recovers. We appreciate all the help we can get and thank you for taking the time to read Destiny's story.
