Destination Antarctica for a Sustainable World

Donación protegida
The Protocol on Environmental Protection to the Antarctic treaty designates Antarctica as a ‘Natural Reserve, devoted to Peace and Science’. This Protocol was adopted in 1991 and it will be up for debate, revision, and/or possible cancellation in 2041.
The present Antarctic ice sheet accounts for 90 percent of Earth's total ice volume and 70 percent of its fresh water. It houses enough water to raise global sea level by 200 ft. if completely melted.

Hi, my name is Amal Morse,

I was born and I grew up in Morocco and I call Austin, TX home for more than 20 years now.
I am a Documentary Filmmaker, a Certified Remote Drone Pilot, and a Security Professional.
My passion for Travel has taken me to more than 30 countries where I have witnessed the beauty of our Planet and Wildlife, and I believe that we all have a responsibility to protect both.

I have been selected from thousands of applicants to join the 2041ClimateForce Antarctic Expedition in March, 2022. I will participate in the “Leadership On The Edge” program alongside 150 participants from 35+ countries.

Why I want to join this Expedition:

I have always been concerned with the wellbeing of our planet and its inhabitants. I try to do my part through small actions such as recycling, composting, responsible shopping... 2 years ago, I moved to a Tiny House to live a minimalist life. But I feel that I can do more!
Robert Swan inspired me to join the 2041ClimateForce Antarctic Expedition so I can see first hand the effects of Climate Change on the 7th Continent, and through the "Leadership On The Edge" program, get the knowledge and the tools I need to become an agent of change.
Upon my return, I will create a Documentary that will explore the importance of the preservation of Antarctica to the rest of the Planet, and how Women around the world are championing the movement to find solutions to Climate Change and Environmental issues.
I will also strive to inspire others, through events and workshops, to be more mindful of the impact of their own actions on the environment, and offer practical solutions they can implement in their daily lives.

The 2041ClimateChange Antarctic Expedition:

This Expedition is an educational journey to the 7th Continent with the Mission to train inspirational participants on up-to-date climate science, sustainability, and leadership skills through the "Leadership On The Edge" Program. This program incorporates workshops on storytelling, writing, presentation, and public speaking to help guide the participants in their leadership journey, inspire them, and equip them with the tools to create, upon their return, meaningful impacts in their communities, institutions, companies, and governments in order to benefit the whole planet.

Sustainability at the Core of the Expedition:

The Explorer’s Passage (TEP) is a member of both Sustainable Travel International and Leave No Trace, and incorporates their principles throughout each of its adventures.

TEP works hard to minimize The Expedition's impact to the Antarctic, and consistent with its mission’s philosophy, it also pays special care to the Carbon Footprint. TEP will be offsetting the carbon impact of each guest on the ship portion of this expedition by 125% .

The ship chosen for The 2041ClimateChange Antarctic Expedition 2022 is The Ocean Victory. It uses 60% less energy than other ships of comparable size, and has the lowest carbon emissions per passenger in the entire industry.

2041ClimateForce Antarctic Expedition will be led by Sir Robert Swan, and it is a collaboration effort between 3 organisations:

1- The 2041 foundation and its founder Robert Swan:

Robert Swan is a polar explorer, environmentalist, the first person to walk to both the North and South Poles, a Goodwill Ambassador for the Youth, and an Inspirational Speaker. After experiencing firsthand the effects of climate change on the Polar icecaps, he dedicated his life to the preservation of the Antarctic as the last great wilderness on earth and he founded 2041, an organization dedicated to this goal. Its mission is to engage businesses and communities on climate science, personal leadership, and the promotion of sustainable practices.

2- Climate Force and its founder Barney Swan:

Barney Swan is an explorer and conservationist. To launch ClimateForce, he walked to the South Geographic Pole over 60 days and 1000km while conducting a sledge hauling expedition entirely on renewable energy. The net-positive journey demonstrated a NASA designed solar ice-melter, hydro flasks and biofuels robust enough to work in one of the world’s harshest environments. Echoing the message that if we can make efforts in Antarctica, we can develop more sustainably all around the globe.

3- The Explorer's Passage and its founder Jeff Bonaldi:

Jeff Bonaldi launched The Explorer’s Passage (TEP) to give people the opportunity to transform their lives through the power of adventure. To accomplish this TEP partners with the best explorers, conservationists, and visionaries. Each of TEP's adventures have an element of purpose which helps to drive social and environmental change.
