I am excited to share with you that I have been accepted into the American Theatre Wing's Springboard program for the year of 2018! Springboard is a training program that prepares college students for life as a working actor in New York City.
This is an in-depth program that happens in parallel to the Tony Awards. Springboard is taught by renowned members of the contemporary theatre. The program curriculum includes workshops, seminars, master classes, and access to important work on Broadway and off. Springboard connects students to inside knowledge and industry players, creating major opportunities for young actors that put them at a professional advantage.
This program is very competitive and hundreds of applications were received for the small number of openings this year. I am honored to have been chosen to be a part of this program and I am asking for your financial support in this effort.
The total cost of the program is $3800. This fee covers the two-week, jam-packed schedule of workshops, master classes, seminars, "meet & greets," and field trips, as well as a two-week unlimited Metrocard for transportation, housing, and meals. It also includes the purchase of tickets to 5-7 Broadway and/or off-Broadway shows and/or special events, including the dress rehearsal for The Tony Awards. There will be special Question and Answer "talkbacks" with cast members that will be held after many of the shows that we will attend.
My four years at Dillard University haveprovided great openings for me as a foundation for my career as an actress. I have performed in The Bluest Eye, The Rose Tattoo, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, The Wiz, and I have had a starring role in 2 independent films.
As you can see, Springboard is an amazing opportunity for the continuation of my acting career! I have been blessed to receive a $1300 scholarship from the American Theater Wing organization but I need your help! There is no amount that is too small.
