Desserts For Scholarships

It’s that time of year! Desserts for Scholarships is here.

Once again, you are invited to participate in the joy of providing African American college students need a bit of help paying tuition, buying books and having some pocket money!

Last year, four students were blessed with $500 each.

This year let's do it again!

Let's help a college student avoid student loans and the need to work full time while going to college.

Let's help a parent who is working overtime to keep their child in school.

Let's help a future graduate who was told they weren't college material cross the stage with degree in hand.

Last year, together we raised $2,000. This year let's raise $2,053 (in honor of my 53rd birthday).

This will provide $500 scholarships to African American students at Wilberforce University, Miami University, and the University of Dayton.

I am asking at least 53 people to join me in giving at one of the levels to ensure 4 students receive scholarships this year.

This fundraiser runs until November 18th (my actual 53rd birthday is November 13). Thank you once again for helping our young people.

Please note: You Cupcakes will be ready for pick up on Saturday, November 18 at Dakota Center from 8 am to 11 am. I can also deliver to anyone in the Dayton area or Middletown Ohio. Winners of the cake can coordinate ordering directly with The Cheesecake Lady.

About Desserts For Scholarship

Desserts For Scholarships was started in 2020 as a way to provide book scholarships to African American college students in need. As I was once that student and see in my everyday work in higher education students like me, I decided that I would use my birthday celebration - National Week of Vette - to raise funds for scholarships versus accepting birthday gifts (although I like those too).

Scholarships helped me and my children in college. With my fundraiser, I want students to be able to start life after college without the burden of paying back debt. This scholarship has helped students to achieve that goal.

Now it's my turn to provide a life-changing opportunity for a young person who wants to go to college and just needs a bit of help doing so.
