Hello, my name is Nicole. I have a very dear friend, Ali. I’m starting this with the hope that we can help her get into a better living environment for her and her baby boy. Within a month of giving birth to her baby, her apartment and vehicle flooded in Tampa, Florida, causing her much financial burden. Unfortunately, because of the increased cost of rental insurance, she didn’t have rental coverage. Her apartment took in five inches of water while her vehicle, which had been parked in the slope of the parking lot, was half full of water, ruining the electrical and air conditioning in her car. Her apartment management refuses to acknowledge that she should be placed in another unit. Within the first two weeks, she was only provided fans to assist with drying out the apartment. Mold has begun to grow on all of her furniture, and she now has a severe termite, flea, cockroach, and ant problem. The apartment complex management isn’t taking care of the pest problem properly either. She has spoken to the board of health to see if they could help, as well as the code enforcement, and she’s just hitting brick walls and still isn’t getting any help. She’s lost clothing, diapers, and furniture due to the mold. She’s now been cleaning through things and throwing out the damaged items, as well as dealing with more mold on baseboards due to the flooding caused by a clogged drainage system. Sadly, she’s even attempted to withhold her rent, and in return, they only send her eviction notices and continue to refuse to either move her to another unit or correct the damages caused because of poor maintenance of the grounds. Because of all the mold that’s present, her infant son now has respiratory issues. She has been desperately trying to save up money so she can move; however, she’s now struggling because of the costs to replace items for her son and attempting to get her vehicle back in running order so she can get to work. She is unable to save up first, last, and security deposit. I ask for any help possible for my dear friend to be able to give her baby a safe environment to live in. If I could come up with the amount of money it costs to move, I would in a heartbeat. Ali and her baby boy have living in a mold mold and bug infest apartment for the past 6 months and she’s now desperate for help.

Please donate if you can, to help a single mother get an opportunity to breathe again without worrying for the health of her baby boy.
