My name is Shawna and I am from Petaluma, California. I recently came to Singapore with my little puppy, Norma Jeane, to start a life long dream I had, to open an event design company. I choose Singapore because I saw that events here were missing any variety that sets events apart from each other and they had no insight on how to change it.  This was my once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!.  I put my entire life savings into this company and it was starting to take off in February...I was so lucky!....then Covid-19 happened... I had to shut the company down because all the events were cancelled until next year and Singapore shut down to protect itself.  Luckily I was here in one of the safest global environments during the outbreak.

To survive I tried to sell inventory but no one was buying. I tried to find a job but no one was hiring a foreigner. I stayed at home for 3 months under quarantine.  I only spent what was needed to survive and to stretch my last 2k dollars. Then my visa was about expire... I had to leave in 30 days. I had saved all my airline miles for an emergency and used that to purchase a ticket out.

10 days before my leave date i started to feel sick, like food poisoning.  I waited it out because I didnt have money for a doctor visit.  Finally the pain was too unbearable. I went into the emergency room.... that was June 5th...it is now June 14th and i dont know how much longer they will keep me here. I ended up having a hole in my small intestine that was leaking toxins into the rest of my body.  The Dr said I had a 50% chance of dying if I didnt have the surgery. They ended up taking out 5 inches of my intestine and some of my colon but they still dont know what caused the hole. So far i have had so many needles poked into me each day and little sleep that i am exhausted. I am very lucky they have very nice nurses. I am a very healthy girl who doesnt eat junk food or greasy things.  I have always ate healthy and taken care of myself. I workout 3 times a week. I dont smoke and hardly drink. I never get sick and am proud of it. So i am very sad and baffled as-to why this happened.

My situation is, I am stuck here in Singapore scared and alone with a huge medical bill that i can not pay. I pray that there are people that are out there that are blessed and have the ability the help me at this scary global time.  When the pandemic is finally over i can offer you my corporate event design services to help repay your kindness.
